Georgia Kazbegi tour

Georgia Kazbegi tour – Svetickhoveli Cathedral – Jvari Monastery. trip to Military road – Ananuri Castle – Gudauri View Point – Gergeti Trinity Church – Tbilisi

Svetickhoveli cathedral  – was the religious centre for all Christians for many centuries. Further proving its importance to Christianity, there is a legend that a seamless robe of Jesus Christ is buried within the temple. Another legend states that King Giorgi ordered the hand of amputated Svetitskhoveli’s architect; so that he could never recreate something so beautiful ever again. We will still see a hand depicted on the Northern facade of the building. Small fragments of paintings which date back to the 11th century let you live through the lives of ancient Georgia; leaving you amazed and stunned. Svetitskhoveli is a must-see for any tourist visiting the country.

Mtskheta tour Georgia

Jvari monastery – Translated as “The Monastery of the Cross”, Jvari is a 6th Century Monastery that is, coincidentally, in the shape of a cross. It is located on a mountaintop with a great view of the meeting between the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers as well as the entire city of Mtkskheta. Jvari Monastery listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, along with other historic structures in Mtshketa. Jvari is the perfect place for those looking to travel back in time and enjoy the architecture of the Middle Ages. Note that the place is windy throughout the entire year, so be prepared.

Georgia and Russian military road trip

Ananuri castle  – You cannot skip Ananuri Castle on your way to the town of Kazbegi. This complex on the Aragvi River is one of the best-protected monuments in Georgia. It is located in 70 kilometres from Tbilisi. Place will make you feel special by its beautiful nature and the taste of an ancient history. Medieval monument, which is very well preserved, was originally used for a military purpose. Only later it became the residence of the Dukes of Aragvi, from the 13th century.

Gudauri view point – The Treaty of Georgievsk between the Russian Empire and the east Georgian kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti in 1783 established Eastern Georgia as a protectorate of Russia. The king swore allegiance to the Russian emperor in return for protection and the support for the reigning Bagrationi dynasty. Just a few years later however, these promises proved worth very little.

Gergeti Trinity Church among world’s most beautiful churches

Gergeti trinity church In Kazbegi – (also known as Tsmida Sameba) is the name of 14th century Holy Trinity Church on north-eastern Georgia near the Gergeti village. The church is located at an altitude of 2170 meters. Under the glacier Kazbegi (5047 m) on the right bank of Chkheri River. The Gergeti Trinity Church is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. The separate bell tower dates from the same period as the church itself. Its isolated location on top of a steep mountain surrounded by the vastness of nature has made it a symbol for Georgia.
